Trigger Point Injections
Trigger point injections (TPIs) are safe, effective, and well-tolerated treatments used for a variety of conditions, most commonly those related to musculoskeletal pain. They can be helpful for treating neck-related headaches (known as cervicogenic headaches), improving neck and shoulder range of motion, relieving jaw pain and dysfunction, and providing relief for certain headache conditions. TPIs are highly customizable.
Dr. Cohen has extensive experience treating many different muscles of the head and neck depending on each patient’s symptoms. Unlike Botox injections, which follow a standardized injection protocol with limited adjustability, TPIs allow greater flexibility in targeting specific muscles involved in pain. The images shown here illustrate several common locations where TPIs may be performed.
